Integrated with the scientific research in Dayuan coal mine of Shanxi, This paper mainly includes the following contents: 1. Gateroad system in top-coal caving longwall panel along the strike direction in extremely inclined thick coal seam. 2. Characteristics on roof caving and overburden movement in extremely inclined thick coal seam with top-coal caving mining method. 3. Roof load calculation in different areas of the panel 4. In recent years, longwall top-caving panel has been successful performed in the extremely inclined thick seam. The maximum dip angle of the seam is close to 60 °. However, due to the larger dip angle and larger caving space in top-coal caving method, the caved immediate roof would slide along the floor and pile up at the end of panel. Therefore, the filling ratio of the gob is different along the mining panel. The stability for the shield is difficult to maintain in the mining process as well.
